The run-down Beisl (Austrian for bar) next door is filled with people who regularly attend the movies shown here - students, creatives, individuals engaging in lively discussions about the latest social trends, quirks, or current political issues. Don't expect a huge cinema, but rather a small, grungy living room atmosphere. In fact, Schikaneder is more like a local Beisl with a movie hall attached to it. In line with the decor and atmosphere, you won't find any blockbusters on the screen here, but instead, indie cinema is shown here, usually in its original version or with subtitles. It also screens many of the films from the human rights film festival, This Human World.
