The Time Travel to the Middle Ages is Austria's largest medieval festival with over 30,000 visitors annually. Over 200 exhibitors showcase and offer their crafts, goods, food, and drinks for sale. At the same time, the Time Travel to the Middle Ages is considered a cultural festival, where artists from the fields of acrobatics, juggling & street art, literature, music, puppetry, combat displays, theater, dance, as well as authors and scholars present their approach to medieval culture. The city is filled with market stalls, artisans, camps, and artists - you can visit specific program points or simply go with the flow and enjoy the great atmosphere.
During the Time Travel to the Middle Ages, there are a variety of performance venues scattered throughout the entire old town. Some are open-air stages, while others are located indoors. The open-air stages primarily feature music, juggling, acrobatics, dance, combat displays, traditional ball games, knight tournaments, and the Saturday evening fire show at Kanzlerwiese. Quieter program points take place indoors. The Martin's Chapel is particularly popular for its chapel concerts. The Town Hall becomes Schola Eggenburgensis, where scholars give lectures on medieval topics for a broad audience.
All individuals aged 16 and above need an admission ticket. Children and adolescents under 16 years old do not pay admission fees.
